Excursion Spotlight – Telford

Our first post of the excursions spotlight series is Telford!

Telford is a large town located in the county of Shropshire. It is actually Shropshire’s largest town and it is said to be one of the fastest growing towns in the United Kingdom.

The town was named after Thomas Telford, a civil engineer who designed many of the road and rail projects in Shropshire.

The town advertises itself as ‘the birthplace of industry’ due to having the Ironbridge Gorge, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, within it’s boundary.

Upon arrival, students will have a tour of the town. Followed by some time to explore the town including its large shopping centre with many shops!
